Dr. Margaret Elizondo is a board-certified Family Physician, and Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. She graduated from the University of Southern California School of Medicine in 1990 and completed her internship and residency training at the University of California, San Diego. She has been at Grossmont Hospital since completion of her residency in 1993, committed to teaching and hospital leadership, in addition to her busy medical practice. She sees patients of all ages, including newborns as well as in-hospital care at Grossmont. Dr. Elizondo has received numerous awards for teaching, involving medical students and residents, as well as nurse practitioner and physician assistant students. She has served on many committees at Grossmont Hospital, including Biomedical Ethics, and has served as Chief of Staff for the hospital. This duty involves oversight of many quality of care issues, and interfacing between the hospital physicians and administrators.
"My love of medicine stems from a long family tradition of doctoring. I am a 4th generation MD and feel honored and privileged to serve my community in this way. It is a special thrill to take care of one's entire family, through births and deaths, with tears of joy and sorrow, learning something new about life every day. I am particularly blessed to have a supportive family to help me pursue my busy career, and to have superb colleagues with whom to work and learn anew each day. I trust the community of Grossmont Hospital, and the providers at Grossmont Family Medical Group, to help me serve my patients in a caring and competent manner 24 hours a day. This is quality care and we are committed to providing it."
