Our office is equipped with a laboratory and blood drawing station. Simple tests are done in our lab, such as urine pregnancy tests and urinalysis. Blood drawn for testing goes to quality reference laboratories, such as Quest Diagnostics Lab or Grossmont Hospital Lab.

You can call this office at (619) 644-6500 during normal business hours to request lab orders from your physician, if not already arranged at your office visit.

If you call ahead we can have your lab orders and all necessary paperwork ready. The Nurses and Medical Assistants are not able to order your lab tests. They must be ordered by your physician.

Quest Diagnostics has many locations.  Please go to www.questdiagnostics.com to find the nearest location to you.  The closest one to Grossmont Family Medical Group is located at 5565 Grossmont Center Dr., Building 3, Suite 463, La Mesa, CA 91942.

The Grossmont Hospital Lab is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and can serve you when we are closed. It is on the first floor of the hospital. You can reach them at (619) 740-4492.

If you come to the office just for lab work, you will still need to check in with the receptionist, who will give you an encounter form. Then go directly to the lab.

LAB POLICIES:
If you bring a lab specimen in to the office, please take it directly to the lab. You will need to let the lab technician know you are leaving the specimen. Please do not leave the specimen unattended.

If your doctor orders your lab to be done on an emergency basis, then it will be done within hours. Any critical lab result is immediately called to the doctor, who will contact you right away if the situation requires immediate attention.

Please wait two weeks before calling the office for results. It is likely you will hear from us before that time.
